10 amazing websites that cost you nothing, but will save you hundreds of hours of your life:

I can no longer fill my car at the pump in a single transaction because the standard £99 authorised card limit doesn't cut it anymore. Just wow.

Congratulations @jmdfield. To say this is well deserved is an understatement but it is great to see you recognised in this way.

1/2 Congratulations @jmdfield on your OBE in the #2022NewYearsHonours for services to the #funeral profession during #COVID. Throughout the pandemic, Jeremy has given up hours of his time, often on a 24/7 basis, despite considerable pressures as a working FD for @CPJField.

Turns out my son is finally old enough to sit and watch the Lion King with me. And just like that, the day's stresses are forgotten #RIPLittleBabyBum

Disappointed to see the price of the new @chilternrailway 'flexible' season ticket is only slightly less expensive than a traditional one, with every return trip from Solihull - London effectively costing £175. £700 saving a month is strong incentive to continue working from home

Two and a half years, a part time Legal Practice Course, a child and a pandemic ago, I accepted an offer of a job I've wanted since leaving university (11 years ago). Tomorrow I finally start my training contract, from my bedroom, which feels exciting and a little bit surreal.

Big thanks to @silhillbrewery for going the extra mile to get a birthday shipment of Solihull's finest to my brother who, for obvious reasons, can't make it home from South Wales for the second year running. They even sorted a birthday card in the box! Much appreciated.

Having great colleagues is so important. I'm really going to miss working with this bunch. Completely overwhelmed by the @NAFD_UK team's efforts to give me a fantastic (socially distanced) send off yesterday. Keep fighting the good fight and I hope you all keep in touch.

Impossible situation. Not something anyone wants to see, but understandable some FDs might contemplate this if police forces seek to hold critical workers responsible for the actions of the public that are completely outside their control. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-558667…

Covid: Families could be asked to pay funeral fines

Concern from undertakers comes after a firm was fined £10,000 when 150 people attended a service.

To impose liability on someone who was powerless to prevent a situation from occuring can only discourage them, and others like them, from putting themselves such a position again. It surely can't be government policy to treat funeral directors this way during a global pandemic?!

We’ve written to @kitmalthouse & @AlexChalkChelt for urgent clarification on whether #funeral directors are now at risk of a £10,000 fine if (despite taking all reasonable steps to ensure families understand #COVID rules) too many people show up...or if @HertsPolice got it wrong.

It also omits that police in attendance decided to stand back and let the crowd naturally disperse (confirmed by @HertsPolice Police on @TalkRoberto's BBC show). If officers, with training and legal powers, assessed the situation as uncontrollable, what was the FD meant to do?

What this @BBCNews story omits is that the #funeral director ensured the family knew the limit beforehand & did all he reasonably could to prevent a breach. But when more than 100 people still unexpectedly show up & the police are there, why was he fined? bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan…

Covid-19: Two £10,000 fines for '150-person' funeral

Under coronavirus restrictions a maximum of 30 people are meant to attend a funeral.

Until lockdown ends this remains an academic question but I am still no clearer on the current status of an EU issued pet passport for UK/EU travel. Someone out there must know the answer!

@BBC_HaveYourSay Having read the latest @DefraGovUK guidance, Ella (currently a resident of Britain) remains unclear about the status of her Spanish issued pet passport. She's no fan of needles but likes to holiday in Ireland. Do we need to take any action before her next trip?

bbc.co.uk/news/education… Glad that a deal was achieved but disappointed that the UK's continued participation in the #Erasmus scheme did not form part of it. Can't help but feel that my son, who is too young to understand any of this, just lost something very special. #brexitdeal

Thanks to @coopuk for involving me and @NAFD_UK in today's fascinating #FutureProofApprentice event. Great discussion that highlighted simple ways the current apprenticeship rules/framework could be changed to better fit the needs of the funeral sector.

Hey @PHE_uk, @NHSEngland, if a person with a new persistent cough tests negative for COVID-19, how many days/weeks of further persistent coughing can they reasonably ignore before going back into self isolation and booking another test?

Interesting opportunity for someone with regulatory experience...

The NAFD is seeking a chair and a lay member for its Disciplinary Committee - with experience gained from outside the funeral profession. Click here for more details: nafd.org.uk/recruitment
