HORRORSTÖR by @grady_hendrix is a horror novel packaged and designed like an IKEA-esk catalogue, about a haunted furniture superstore. Insanely clever and inventive. Solid and satirical horror novel with fun characters, monsters, and mystery. Good read.

HELL HOUSE, published in 1971, is a haunted house novel by horror legend Richard Matheson - better known for I AM LEGEND, A STIR OF ECHOES, & his TWILIGHT ZONE episodes. Weird book, for true, but a horror classic. Fun read.

PLAY NICE by Rachel Harrison is 1/2 dysfunctional family drama, 1/2 haunted house horror novel- the characters driving the story. A woman confronts her murky past as she tries to flip an infamous haunted home her mother left to her, learning the claims might be true. Solid read.

I loved EXILES by @andrewpyper (writing under his pen name, Mason Coile). I'd read WILLIAM and enjoyed it, so was trusting the author for another ride. A legit sci-fi horror on Mars. Is there an alien monster on the planet? Have the Ai robots gone mad? Both? Neither? Great read.

KING SORROW by @joe_hill it a tome of book - almost 900 pages. Its a character driven, twisty, modern mythical story; replete with dragons and trolls - both with multiple meanings. Solid read. Long read. Great cast of characters.

FIEND by @almakatsu is a contemporary horror novel surrounding an ancient evil in the modern world, dealing with nightmarish family drama and worthiness regarding the family's considerable wealth - and who will take the reins next. Good read, good monster.

DUNGEON CRAWLER CARL by @mattdinniman was an outrageous and fun read. Clever Literary RPG / GameLit novel - fun characters and quality world building. Definitely a genre specific series - if you get it, you get it; if you don't, you won't. Wild ride.

RED RABBIT GHOST by @jennicjul follows Jesse as he returns to his hometown to discover the truth about his mother's mysterious death, guided by cryptic messages from an unknown person. Good small-town horror read. Great title.

HUNTED by @darcyauthor is one part who-done-it horror, one part survivalist thriller, and one part monster wilderness novel. Fun cast of characters and a surprise ending I didn't see coming. Solid read.

SOON by Lois Murphy was a gnarly small town Australian horror. The horror element is somewhat a background issue / part of the setting as the story is carried by great characters and fantastic writing. Wonderful ending, for true. Fun read.

TRAPDOOR is a gnarly who-done-it horror in Australia with multiple POV. 90% of the novel takes place in a single setting, which can be hard to pull off. J.P. Pomare did a great job on this one - fun audiobook.

Enjoyed "KILLER ON THE ROAD" by Stephen Graham Jones. Solid horror about a runaway on the Wyoming highways who encounters a unique and monstrous killer with some strange abilities. Good read. SGJ knows how to knock out a horror novel.

Enjoyed THE MAN MADE OF SMOKE by Alex North. Liked his other novels THE WHISPER MAN and THE SHADOWS as well. He writes thrilling crime fiction so well; pacing, POVs, character arcs, tension - he makes it all look so smooth. Solid read.

I first read THE LONG WALK by Stephen King (writing as Richard Bachman) when I was in junior high; so I gave it another whirl. Depressing novel. Quality characters are what drives the story - their descent into spaces they've never pushed their bodies &/or minds. Solid read.

Buddy of mine lent me SLOW HORSES by Mick Herron - a thriller about disgraced MI5 agents, each eager for redemption. Solid read. I'm not usually one for the espionage, double-crossing, secret agent stuff; but this was a fun read, mainly because of the main & supporting characters

GOING HOME IN THE DARK by @deankoontz was a fun hometown horror palette cleanser for me. I love Koontz and return to him for solid story and wild ideas as I churn through other contemporary horror. Fun story with multi-layered and likable characters. Wild Ride, as expected.

I enjoyed the MURDERBOT DIARIES series by Martha Wells - original science fiction and solid books - so I was excited to watch the TV series adaptation. First season was great; stayed true to the story. Really well done. #murderbot #marthawells

THE NIGHT BIRDS by @ChristophGolden was a fun ride. One of the coolest settings for a story I've read in a while - a 19th century half-sunken freighter with a forest of mangrove trees growing through the deck in Galveston. Throw in some witchery & you've got a solid horror novel.

"How's the story going?" "Is this one scary, too?" Leeloo and Newt providing quality doggo support. #amwriting #Dachshunds #3rdshift

DIFFERENT SEASONS by @StephenKing was the first book I read by King and it's an all time favorite. Four fantastic novellas, three of which were adapted for the big screen. Apt Pupil still resonates with me, solid read. Great book. #stephenking #horror #books
