The labels on the Number Tiles help students see the dimensions of rectangular arrays, as well as any remaining tiles. Here are some representations of 40. Learn more about all our number manipulatives at mathigon.org/task/tutorial-…
I 💖 seeing how student thinking progresses over the 3 units of multiplication & division in 3rd grade. The first picture is from a number sense routine in the fall & the second is a recording of student strategies after a task (given today). @FairhillES @MathematicsFcps
The flexible thinking that happened during our math workshop today = math joy. I 💖 using @gfletchy & @TracyZager resource! @FairhillES
I cannot believe we’re on our last unit of multiplication & division for the year. Today was all about flexible thinking, new games from @gfletchy, and @MathforLove multiplication cards during small groups. @FairhillES
I have been thinking about how this student solved this word problem all day. The mathematical connections and flexible thinking in this strategy…wow. 🎉 @MathematicsFcps @FairhillES
We had a panda-tactic Valentine’s Day in third grade! ❤️🐼 @FairhillES #webelongatFairhill
This month we’re highlighting books in our classroom library that celebrate Black heroes, Black authors & illustrators, and stories of Black joy. #BlackHistoryMonth @FairhillES @FCPSEquity #webelongatFairhill
So much flexible thinking during our array chat today! 5 x 5 = 25, 10+10+5=25, (10x2) + (1x5) = 25, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 — ✨math joy✨ @FairhillES #webelongatFairhill
Have you heard of the math instructional routine I Have, You Need? It's about helping students construct really important mental relationships. Learn about it: bit.ly/ihaveyouneed #MTBoS #ITeachMath #MathIsFigureOutAble #Elemmathchat #MSmathchat #HSmathchat #MathStratChat
This poster of mine has been making the rounds online again, so I thought I’d remind people that you can get it for free at the Art page of my website, along with a bunch of others. All I ask is that, if you use any, please keep my site/signature on them. jarrettlerner.com/art

At Glen Lake Elementary, recess is a mixed blessing, in part because their school has many kids with physical disabilities, but no adaptive playground equipment. That is until one 5th-grade class banded together to make sure their school had a playground for everyone.
Unifix cubes aren’t just for math 🙃 Third graders are using hands on materials to work on building words. @FairhillES
Our number sense routine today — it’s only day 2 of fractions! @FairhillES #webelongatFairhill
A few snapshots of SOR learning happening in third grade. Yay for new literacy hands on manipulatives ❤️ @FairhillES #webelongatFairhill
Students’ families sent in their favorite recipes and we made a class cookbook! The recipes are authentic examples of functional texts. 😊 Every student got their own copy. @FairhillES #webelongatFairhill
