David Lynch making a dad joke, you love to see it. Might be parasocial of me to say this but I miss knowing he’s out there in the world. 💔

The chair of Gladio’s transatlantic board of directors and Tony Blair’s rottweiler just organically discussing Google AI, and how AI is empowering the Government to become more efficient. Ad @GoogleUK

people are dunking on this, but I do think there's a problem with how much of being a music (or any art form) fan online is centred around jumping from one discourse to the next, instead of just living with a work of art organically over time

You guys ingest art like fast food and that's your problem and why you hate everything.

best björk song of all time but you aren’t allowed to say hyperballad or pagan poetry

polanski is being so bold and outspoken on topics like trans rights and pro immigration and the green party are SURGING in the polls it’s proof we need our left wing leaders to be unapologetically pro trans and pro immigration. no more cowardice

Apropos of nothing, nobody ever seems to remember that the Scott Walker route is always available for aging pop-stars

the kid from off of that hovis advert is a replicant and I'll kill and eat anyone who disagrees

Ridley Scott directed Roxy Music's video for Avalon in 1982. It was the only pop video he ever directed. Does this technically put it in the Blade Runner universe?

Man I’m so relieved people have seemingly ceased their performative hatred of Infinite Jest. A tremendous feat of literature by a singularly gifted writer and thinker.

All the best lad @enduringhell 🤝

Guz, I used to think you were just a normal humble bloke who just wanted to make people laugh. Now I realise you're full of hate and despise anything if it doesn't align with you. A shame, Man Like Mobeen was good, now tainted by the hate of its creator.

incredible what can happen when working class young people in this country are actually given access to the arts

Owen Cooper is a first-time #EMMY winning actor at the age of 15.

P.s. Brum culture isn't about Temu flags raised by Tommy Robinson Fanbois. It's about 2-Tone, Heavy Metal, Punk, Blues & Villa, Snobs, The Electric, Pigeon Park, Reggae, ELO, the #11 bus, Mr. Egg, the best food in the country. Bulls, Ozzy etc. etc. You get the idea.

People in Birmingham don't believe politics works for them anymore. The birthplace of Black Sabbath & the UK's oldest working cinema, both rotting on Station St despite pleas for protection, perfectly exemplifies how Brummies feel ignored & our culture treated as an afterthought

WE'RE SO BACK

One Battle After Another might be the best movie released by a major American studio since I started working as a critic (~2010). distressing how little else comes to mind!

The thought of teenagers assuaging loneliness with ChatGPT where they used to with literature and music fucking terrified me, tbh

It’s to do, I guess, not just with what you do with your solitude, but what you do with your loneliness. Somehow this gets missed, despite how often people cite DFW and how often DFW talks about it. It becomes a numbed-out sense; it’s what you need to navigate real *literature*

The Electric Cinema. Closed by developers. The Crown. Closed by developers. Oasis Market. Closed by developers. Supersonic Festival. Once again threatened by developers. It goes on and on. The message is clear. Independent cultural experiences are not welcome in Birmingham.

Supersonic Festival once again having to pull miracles out of a hat. @Cllr_suleman as cabinet holder for culture how are you going to ensure this doesn't keep happening to one of the pinnacle events keeping the spirit and creativity that Sabbath pioneered alive in Brum?

me and my friend are trying to decide who the coolest musician is. the rules are it can’t be bc of the band they’re in or even just the music itself, it has to include everything abt them in general. so far my final answer has been kim deal

without getting too specific, the problem with barbarian is that it gets too bogged down in “the message” and loses the plot. weapons doesn’t concern itself with that at all and just lets things play out, which is far for the better imo.
