I would urge @DefraNature to concider a #hedges2hectares ratio in its payment schemes. 20km of hedge across 200Ha earns exactly the same as 20km across 2000Ha, yet provides much greater biodiversity gain (1:10 v 1:100) yet small fields = far greater costs. RT to agree!
