The founder was telling me, they found great engineers not hands-on with these AI tools did worse: but they can pick up these tools in no time! So it felt they were looking for the wrong thing. They are back to algorithmic interviews (in-person.) Becuase they feel signal better

but it should. today it is even less relevant when ai can write any algo in seconds, ability to solve leetcode correlates even less with ability to solve real-world problems.

Unfortunate reality but it is what it is. Also, I think private companies employing people should have a right to decide on how to hire people, no? I anyway think farming is way cooler than software engg anyways. x.com/CudaSlayer/sta…

An easy eg: Coming up with a correct greedy solution to a problem is alright. But proving why it's optimal using elementary exchange or adjacent swap arguments is a way better signal. Doing the latter means, one has "algorithmic" chops (very basic but it's still there) whereas…

I fought against for a long time and suffered. I gave in, locked in on dsa for a few months & actually got a better paying job. Also, actually learn cool things while solving problems.
