Boorman is such an aestheticizing director—alienated, inhuman, yet the more gripping for the distance he keeps—that DELIVERANCE held audiences by its mannered, ghastly-lovely cumulative power. It had the formality of a nightmare. (1973)
Finally watched EEPHUS. A weird meatball. My favorite movie of the year so far.

EDEN really gripped me. You got pretty people (a few very naked!) doing backstabby Lord of the Flies shit in the Galapagos and Ron Howard pushing against good taste in his unwinking (though often sickeningly funny) presentation of some primo cinematic melodrama.
The experience of reading Caught Stealing and Already Dead in the same year when I was starting as a writer was mind blowing. I hope the CS movie kills it at the box office.
I have never seen a picture of 80-year-old author Dean Koontz before, but brooooo
John Glover gives the most interesting villain performance of the 1980s in this motherfucker.
Based on the novel by Elmore Leonard and starring Roy Scheider, John Frankenhemier’s 52 PICK-UP is a sleazy action thriller masterpiece. See it in 35mm with actor John Glover in person at LF3 / @am_cinematheque on 9/1. 🎟️: tinyurl.com/hnkr7dwh

Just in, fresh from the printer, our first finished copies of SUPERMAX by the late Ken Bruen and @JasonStarrBooks. Combining BUST, SLIDE and THE MAX in 1 volume for the first time ever, it hits stores in November — the perfect holiday gift for your wilder crime fiction lovers.
Reread Willy Vlautin’s THE NIGHT ALWAYS COMES and then gave the movie adaptation another shot. Wrote a little about it here: boxd.it/aRqrIj

In the 2000s, Refn was due to collaborate with Abel Ferrara's screenwriter Nicholas St John on a horror film called Billy's People. Mentioned several times in the Gambler documentary as his next big project after the Pusher series
