Yes!!! “companies aren’t just paying for hours anymore. They’re paying for judgmentâ€Ķ ability to make good calls quicklyâ€Ķability to know which doors are worth opening.â€Ķ and for the intuition that keeps you from wasting months chasing the wrong idea.”

Working Hours, Then and Now The debate around the 9-9-6 work schedule strikes me as oddly shallow. Startups in China have been doing this for years, and I remember back in the mid-2010s it was practically an article of faith among people watching the industry that this was whyâ€Ķ

What is hard about corporate politics aka “getting shit done when different people have different opinions” comes down to: 1) empathizing with the other side even when you disagree 2) standing up for what you believe even when the other side disagrees 3) not taking disagreementsâ€Ķ

The problem is that “corporate politics” sounds ick and needs a rebrand. If you called it “getting shit done when different people have different opinions,” suddenly it makes no sense to say this is “beneath you.” Indeed you are playing the game, whether you like it or not.

Managers don’t do the work, but they make sure it gets done. AI is becoming the same. For years, automation has been framed as a job-killer. The reality is more nuanced. AI isn’t replacing jobs. It is replacing tasks. The same way managers delegate work and set expectations,â€Ķ

Best hiring advice I’ve received: Hire people who love what they do so much, they listen to podcasts about it. Getting to build with these people will make your day. Their obsession, their love for the craft, it’s infectious and awesome ðŸĪĐ
