The war on science in the US is already affecting private sector research like AlphaFold. Bears repeating but the private sector builds on top of things created by academic research for the public good. This hurts everyone.

I was so lucky to be able to have Danny Kahneman as a best friend and collaborator for decades. He usually ended our conversations with "to be continued..." but I now have to simulate his part which is impossible. My favorite image of us "working".

'friction logs' ⭐ Excellent concept @sebasbensu

As software companies get bigger, product quality goes down: interactions break, screens freeze, etc One technique to spot this is to do "friction logs": You use the product and as you do, you log everything that causes you friction for the responsible team to fix later.

"Creative work that is never “done”, but done for now. They aim to produce great solutions, not just code." 🎉 thanks for the worthwhile read @russmiles

Just got my green card and used Global Entry for the first time. 2 sec interaction after the kiosk: “Mr. Hsu, anything to declare? No? Welcome home!” I didn’t realize how much this could mean to me. And what it still feels like to be an immigrant even after so many years here

Quote on my mind: "Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains." — Steve Jobs
