I like to think it varies depending on his mood. From Dandy's POV I like to think its like he is fading in and out of concsious, his emotions are haywire and all over the place so depending on his mood he will act on a extreme. Once normal he has fuzzy and faint memories
I mean, since in Twisted Pebble’s actual bio in the dw game, it says he’s territorial over his master’s territory or where he is so, I would say he’s more conscious then most like the only thoughts in his mind is his master ig
I generally steer towards conscious but (most times) not himself
Imo he's both! He recognizes toons he's close with (e.g Astro or Pebble) but he's animalistic when he sees them get hurt or just toons he doesn't recognize
