Introducing the oTree AI Builder, which can program entire oTree games from a chat prompt, no coding required, with high accuracy: otreehub.com/otai/projects/
More features added to oTree 6.0 beta: back button, live methods on WaitPage, DecimalField with customizable units, multiple custom_export functions, and more.
Heroku is currently having an outage (due to AWS failure). Because of this oTree Hub deployment to Heroku is not working either.
More additions to oTree 6 beta: back button, preserving unsubmitted forms, filtering fields in admin: otree.readthedocs.io/en/latest/misc…

For your oTree experiments, what participant recruiting platform do you use most? (or which do you want to use?)

Experimentalist: Soon, I'll give a short course on programming experiments with @otree. What would you like to learn, wish you have known earlier, or what are some aspects you find challenging? Help me out, please (Comments and RT are much appreciated.) #EconTwitter
It was a pleasure to deliver this session today. It is nice to see more and more people interested in learning @otree 🧑💻 Thanks @MethodologyLSE for the opportunity!

Just got an invitation to a kid's friend's birthday. The RSVP form is on Qualtrics. So, who's going to be the first to program a birthday RSVP form using oTree?

I second oTree! If you're comfortable or have RA support to conduct programming in Python, in my experience it's been highly customizable/powerful
Heroku free dynos are discontinued, but students can get free Heroku credits through the Student Developer Program: blog.heroku.com/github-student…. Also, Heroku has introduced Eco dynos which are very cheap ($5/month pooled across all sites)
I created an oTree app based on the code I usually use to (1) screen for bots, (2) ask users to allow scripts, and (3) detect proxy/VPN usage. Test it here: screeningappdemo.herokuapp.com/demo Download the oTree app here:github.com/victorvanpelt/… #experiments #mturk #otree #prolific #research
In oTree 5.10, if a model field doesn't specify 'min', it will be assumed to be 0. This allows oTree to display the friendlier numeric keypad on mobile. Also prevents unintended negative inputs, e.g. a user 'hacking' the game by entering a negative contribution amount.
I've been holding oTree office hours over Zoom with labs that have an oTree Hub group subscription. Looking at people's code and advising them on their projects. Would be glad to do it at more universities :) otreehub.com/subscription/
Ask your lab/group admin to get you a group subscription to oTree Studio: otreehub.com/subscription/. It makes building experiments much easier and faster. Also can get support from me.
