Grateful for the New Yorkers who stopped an illegal ICE raid while NYPD terrorized protesters and aided ICE. All charges must be dropped. We need to pass Intro 214 to protect our communities and hold the NYPD—and all city agencies—accountable for violating our sanctuary laws.
New York City is a sanctuary city, and the NYPD is bound by our laws to keep all New Yorkers safe, full stop. ICE has no place in our city, and I’m heartened by the New Yorkers who showed up yesterday to support our neighbors.

Grateful to all of the New Yorkers who quickly mobilized, put their safety on the line, and protected their immigrant neighbors against ICE's expected raids. They sent a clear message to the masked ICE agents hiding in the garage: get out of our city.

While I’m glad Comm. Tisch let Ricky Patel (Special Agent in Charge at HSI) know that she’s not happy with their raids, I’m disturbed by footage of NYPD officers clearing the way for ICE vehicles. It’s a violation of our sanctuary city law for NYPD to facilitate deportations.
Jessica Tisch told Ricky Patel that what happened today was "unacceptable" and that shows of force were putting the public, federal agents and police officers in harm's way. She warned them that it needs to stop and someone will get hurt if it continues, the person said. (2/2)
