Despite its significant constraints and shortcomings I've come to embrace #DriveToSurvive with season 5. It's done the job. Kudos to that, but it may be time to rethink how @F1's growing fanbase is engaged.

I’m disappointed that the @netflix @F1 series “Drive to Survive” portrays the sport as violent and life threatening when @jeantodt and the @FIA have gone to great lengths to put safety at the forefront. Modern day F1 is an awesome study in power and grace, not thrills & spills.

Could not agree more. @F1 deserves a clearly defined plan that all stakeholders understand and connect with. It demands informed, engaged leadership that understands the culture as much as the numerous unique & common agendas. Unfortunately, deal makers do not make great leaders.
Or... @F1 is failing on many levels: not least its broken rules/regs structure that requires a winning team to find circa $0.5bn per season to compete in top six

If the objective is more passing in @f1, wouldn’t a narrower front wing with sophisticated, but cleaner aero regs be preferable to a wider wing prone to damage and loss in the event of close contact during increased passing events?
Pros journalists would argue that that is, in fact, their job. Report with a sharp and critical (and usually informed and uniquely experienced) eye. The fluffing belongs to the marketing dept. That is what they get paid to do.
It's hilarious how some #F1 'journalists' take it personally when (valid) criticisms are made about the series & it's owners. It's amateur. A journalist should hammer & shame F1, if it is warranted, regardless of whether they are a fan. The two are NOT mutually exclusive
