By timing exams and not designing open book formats, you are (in most cases) unnecessarily and unintentionally grading ability to write fast, short term memory recall and more! If those things are not explicitly in your learning outcomes, then don't use timed, closed-book exams.

Why time exams at all? Different students learn different stuff in different ways and in different amounts of time. The work most of us does in the world rarely resembles timed, high stakes, standardized, proctored exams.

Apology by BBC News after a trainee, learning how to put text on the ticker (the headlines that run along the bottom of the screen) accidentally published the words "Manchester United are rubbish" live on the broadcast... Fair and accurate reporting, imo.

"Inclusion is when diversity becomes normal. It’s the point when we take it for granted that the whole world is diverse and we build this awareness into everything we do. It’s a mindset that is fundamentally about respecting each person in all their complexity."

In 2020, equality, diversity and inclusion became abroad-ranging conversation in all types of organisations. In this post Dr Marie Claude-Gervais sets out some of her takeaways from 25 years specialising in research with minority groups. bit.ly/2LJ53GP @ThisIsVersiti
