This is simply not true. I have been in the field of observational consequences/searches for string theory/quantum gravity since 2004, and there is a long literature on this going back at least to the mid-1980s (including particle pheno people, not all string theorists/QG folk).
In 2007 I organized the first workshop on Experimental Search for Quantum gravity at Perimeter Institute. They were followed by several more in 2010, 2012, and 2014 and 2015. After that I ran out of steam (had failed repeatedly to secure funding for my research on the topic) but…
