Call me cynical but I’ve been in rating since 1991 and not a year goes by when the parties in opposition promise something like this, only for the policy to be launched squarely into the long grass when they take office.

The main manifestos on #businessrates Conservatives - Increase multiplier for distribution warehouses Labour - Replace rates with property tax that raises the same income LibDem - Replace rates with Land Value Tax Reform - Abolish rates for small/medium high street firms
Some other #businessrates changes in the #springbudget. Empty Property Relief “reset period” will change. A property will need to have been occupied for 13 weeks before empty relief can be claimed (currently 6 wks). Govt will also consult on a General Anti-Avoidance Rule @PwC_UK
New #businessrates relief for Film Studios in #springbudget should help with the increase in Rateable Values in 2023, but will the relief be restricted by Subsidy Rules? @PwC_UK
