Southgate is akin to the Head that turns a school around but people conveniently forget how the school used to be & under appreciate what has been done, achieved & brought to the table.
Some ppl are just good at teaching, not writing blogs or reading books or leading or managing or tweeting or presenting or knowing every piece of research that's ever been written. And those good teachers - respect them and just let them teach cos the kids don't know or care…
We are hugely disappointed to read this. As promised the IOP took up this issue with AQA last year and were expecting progress. We are discussing what action we can take next and will look closely at the grade boundary data when results are published.
4: Pro-actively train staff so they know how to interact with children, how to professionally speak to them, how to de-escalate issues and equip them with a toolkit of classroom management strategies
My current science department have been at my school for: >15 years >15 years >10 years Me - 8 years 7 years 4 years *Big* part is my HOD. If your HODs are causing teachers to leave your school, convos need to be had. Good leadership is Retention Retention is now recruitment
AQA need to pay examiners more so I am not this distressed over looking at whole unmarked pages that clearly have not been rewarded. I know the volume of marking is insane, but the cost to disadvantaged students is huge and not all of us have time to review scripts like this.
“When they were elected in 2010, the Conservatives slashed the funding to New Labour’s Building Schools for the Future programme. This week, the consequences of this shortsighted and ideological approach is laid bare”: scathing @guardian editorial: theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

A very interesting & in all honesty alarming but not surprising read bbc.co.uk/news/education…

Five takeaways from this year's GCSE results
England's exams watchdog said this year was about returning to normal - but it's not quite there.
Basically, the dumber you are, the smarter you think you are and vice versa.
Behaviour systems… Acid test… Can ECTs teach disruption free? Can the teacher that sees a class once a fortnight teach disruption free? If the answer is no, think your system over again
Teacher predictions I’m not surprised teachers struggle to predict accurately when the boundaries (goalposts) change every year
Behaviour With the new academic year approaching… If someone says behaviour is all about relationships then ask them to… Define this Unpack it State how you achieve this & make it possible Otherwise, it’s a meaningless statement & as useful as saying they behave for me
Students taking AQA A Level Physics this year averaged 41.5%. Are some exams just too hard? And what can be done about it?
I noted on centre services that the mark schemes for the AQA A level physics exams are out. Every year I sit down and answer the questions as a student would. When the mark schemes come out I mark them honestly and see how I did. It's great CPD. Here's how I did... 🧵/1
Here are the grade boundaries for all 3 @Science_AQA A-Level exams this year. Yet again Physics is very low as the papers are way too difficult. This is hurting Physics. Please can something be done about this disparity? It has gone on since 2017 and the situation is worsening.
Chandrayaan-3 Mission update: The spacecraft's health is normal. The first orbit-raising maneuver (Earthbound firing-1) is successfully performed at ISTRAC/ISRO, Bengaluru. Spacecraft is now in 41762 km x 173 km orbit.
Having crunched the numbers I can confirm: the pay offer is not fully funded and has to be covered by the savings already forced upon us this is another tax on inclusive schools that employ more staff to support and will get ZERO funding for their pay increases
THE 3 TYPES OF PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE… 1. The Leaf people 2. The Branch people 3. The Root people LEAF PEOPLE: These are people who come into your life just for a season. You can't depend on them because they are weak. They only come to take what they want, but if the wind comes…
Honestly going from a Microsoft school to a Google school has been a revelation. Why is everything so much easier? And slicker? And I’m obsessed with Google calendar, if you’re interested.
