Together with @notalbertalonso and Karel Proesmans, we show how irreversible a neural network is in terms of its dissipation rate and how optimal information processing at the edge of chaos is related to this robust energy expenditure iopscience.iop.org/article/10.108…
Just out in @PhysRevE: journals.aps.org/pre/abstract/1… Many thanks to coauthors @physicsidea and @FernandoL2006!

The idea of using path-integral for stochastic evolution is not new, but using it to analytically describe coevolution of the nodes of a network and the network itself, requires a substantial extension. We made it possible in doi.org/10.1088/1742-5… for “collective adaption”.
Our paper doi.org/10.1088/1742-5… with 2 perspective: evolutionary biology, phenotypic robustness emerging from dynamic genotype-phenotype map; Hopfield-networks: the network tries to retrieve dynamic patterns that in turn shaped by the network structure in the previous iteration
We identify the thermodynamic origin of a phase transition to chaos by showing it corresponds to a change in the functional form of the entropy production rate upon crossing the onset of chaos. This connects the dynamic and thermodynamic aspects of chaos arxiv.org/abs/2407.17939

Not able to produce “favorable results” in the lab? You are a “loser”. Stay in the shadows of those who can bring cool data to the Big Prof. Sounds familiar? It's not only about this case at Stanford. It's about academic culture in general: - Keep pushing for metrics.…
We made it possible to extend dynamical mean field theory to a wide class of adaptive systems, i.e. those having an adaptation process for parameters controlling the dynamics of the state variables. Our theory predicts a generic phase diagram arxiv.org/abs/2306.01403
Double-replica theory for evolution of genotype-phenotype interrelationship, Tuan Minh Pham and Kunihiko Kaneko #Biophysics #StatisticalPhysics go.aps.org/3N6ttYp
In this paper journals.aps.org/prresearch/abs… we derived an equilibrium-physics theory of biological evolution with genotype-phenotype mapping. The follow-up paper about the full non-equilibrium theory for genotype-phenotype map in gene regulatory networks will be on arxiv very soon.
Birds of a feather flock together: in a new study in @PhysRevLett, researchers at @CSHVienna used methods from #physics (the self-assembly of particles with spin), to predict human group sizes bit.ly/3HilZNd @APSphysics @Jan_Korbel @linwood211 @sfiscience @MedUni_Wien

I have a hunch that somewhere in the gap between this paper👆and this one👇, on the consistent mathematics of complex systems, our future will be discerned. nature.com/articles/s4159…
