Doing some really cool PyPy JIT work with @isidentical right now. Trying to fix one of the really long-standing performance cliffs, where megamorphic call sites produce a linear search across the called methods, plan is to compile one general version if we see too many callees.

This is a great thread. One thing I would add is making sure that the "get started with Python" onboarding flow on every platform is as silky smooth as possible, as a core language feature, not something they requires third party tooling
I love Python to death, but goodness if I had a magic wand that could make sweeping changes to it, I would. A lot of Python's behavior and quirks are due to it being 30 years old. A whole lot of things have changed since.
