For those of you just visiting, here are four of my favorite astrophotos I've taken over the years! If you want to learn the #astronomy or #astrophotography techniques behind them, tweet @ me!
This is a dual mosaic of The Pelican Nebula! The light from young energetic stars is slowly transforming cold gas to hot and causing an ionization front gradually to advance outward. Dense filaments of cold gas are seen to still remain. #astrophotography #astronomy
Here are two minutes of the SpaceX launch stream where the ice build-up began.
I've watched probably well over 300 Falcon launches and I really haven't seen this before on the second stage. Hoping and awaiting for SpaceX to confirm nominal relight and payload separation.
This may be one of my cleanest deep-space photos yet! Pinch to zoom, inspect each detail, and imagine the electric and sparkling waves of the Lagoon Nebula washing all over you. #astronomy @starfront_observatories #astrophotograhy
Last night's image of NGC 6914 - 6000 light years away. I see a wolf; what do you see? #Astrophotography
The firework of the Milky Way core. This is the Trifid Nebula, a collection of Reflection, Emission, and Dark Nebula beating away amongst some of the most star-dense portions of the sky! This also represents the first light taken with my permanent telescope setup!
I love seeing corpses of ancient space relics drifting through my telescope's field of view! This thing must be OUT THERE, tumbling away forever. #spaceJunk
Does anyone know how paramagnetic cryogenic oxygen is? Could it be (easily) manipulated by magnetic fields in microgravity for on orbit refueling?

This is me soaring with Sedona in the background. This weekend was the first time I got to fly through #AZ clouds, and I insist on doing it again soon. #paragliding
I was browsing through some freshly uploaded data from the #JWST (as anyone can do) and came across this spacescape. It's a 7-minute NIRCAM exposure of the Cat's Paw Nebula, looking for signs of water in asteroids. Zoom in! I count 12 asteroids. PC: Trilling Research Group @NAU
I spent four hours today massaging some ancient data I collected years ago and thought was useless. You should look back to that past project you had. Find the inspiration again. #astrophotography #arizonastate #spacethings
We're now over a month into our mission & pleased to report our spacecraft has performed nominally Our original reentry date of July 17th was pushed back, as we work w/ our government partners to ensure everyone is fully ready The pharma crystals onboard are ready to come home!
Absolutely stunning deployment. 🌍
