The settlement still a joke. Most apps (specially big ones) already does that. Communicating by email is not the same as inside the app (just look at data of non-opened marketing emails). It is not a step, but a controlled side movement to stay in the same place as before.
At the moment you add a third party lib on your app, the app is not yours anymore. If the lib crash, you crash. If the lib steals data, you steal data.
