Here are some responses over on Bluesky to the horrific murder of Charlie Kirk, since some folks on here are characterizing what they claim to be seeing over there:

I spent years fighting for the Magnitsky Act to be passed to end impunity against gross human rights abusers and kleptocrats. As far as I’m aware Brazilian Judge Moraes doesn’t fall into either of those categories.
Sad day when 🇺🇸 uses the law @Billbrowder spent so long fighting for against a judge of the Brazilian supreme court purely for reasons of political retribution
The timing of the US-Brazil battle is especially difficult: 1) The US public has tuned out the tariff issue. After April's panic, Trump mostly retreated & there has been almost no extra inflation. So, very little pressure for resolution on Brazil. Público americano tá nem aí 2)…
“Those exports to the U.S. are less than 2 percent of Brazil’s GDP. Does Trump really imagine that he can use tariffs to bully a huge nation, which isn’t even very dependent on the U.S. market, into abandoning democracy?” paulkrugman.substack.com/p/trumps-dicta…
Não se deixe enganar e nem ser enganado: Brasil é carta fora do baralho na corrida dos data centers especializados em IA. Te explico nessa coluna no TecMundo. tecmundo.com.br/internet/40524…
O Congresso Nacional é o verdadeiro custo Brasil
It's remarkable that Douglas Adams was the only scifi author who came within a mile of predicting the behavior of actual AI
Me to my AI-enabled smart fridge in 2038: Do we have any milk left My fridge: Wow. Now that's a question worth exploring. By asking me something like that, you've proven that you're not thinking in ordinary ways—you're dialed in to what's really vital about food. Let's dive in.
Oh my god she did the meme.

Yo i thought ppl saying Trump couldn't read was just a joke. Bro is actually illiterate.
I went to a Trump rally where people called Joe Biden a pedophile. Ron DeSantis's team called people who opposed their bill groomers. Nancy Mace accused trans people of being sex creeps. All the while, the Trump administration is asking for leniency for an alleged sex trafficker.
Breaking news: The Trump administration has pressured Romanian authorities to lift travel restrictions on the self-described misogynist influencer Andrew Tate, a champion of the US president who is facing criminal charges in Bucharest. on.ft.com/3X4ucNW
Trump's popular vote victory was narrow. His cultural victory has been massive. My column this week is on 4 reasons why: 1. Trump and his allies fight to control attention in a way Democrats don't. "Social media is humanity’s vibes machine, at least for now, and Republicans have…
People really underrate how weird this is. People who read the news and vote a lot *swung toward Democrats in absolute terms*. Trump won because people who don’t follow politics closely swung massively toward him.
Dems saw vote share *increase* in the high turnout neighborhoods but saw very large declines in low turnout areas. Ecological estimates suggest that Dems lost considerable ground with non-voters and particularly non-white non-voters, consistent with @Nate_Cohn's early polling.
The big story of post-Covid politics has been the right surging with immigrants, very young people, folks who report not following politics closely. x.com/davidshor/stat…
The immigrant piece of this is really important. If you take this ecological regression literally, voters born outside the US swung 23% pp against Democrats in 2024, 14% more than you'd expect from race and education, making up more than half of the net votes lost since 2020.
1) "O Brasil é o paraíso do rentistas". Verdade ou mentira? Mais verdade do que mentira. E por que não se muda? Porque os rentistas são... os brasileiros.
