Hello, dear followers! Unfortunately, Twitter has finally killed my last API key… The API access is now either write-only (not enough for me), or $100/m. So after 10 years of mostly unattended operation, it's time to say goodbye. Take care & keep making cool things with Ruby! ❤️

Mac OS X tip: You can disable sleeping by adding “Disable Screen Saver” as a hot corner under Desktop & Dock system settings. Then just put your mouse in that corner to disable sleeping while running a long process.
So, this was an incredibly classy and touching surprise @RailsSaaS had prepared. I am so honored. The award is solid crystal, including the ruby on top. It weights, it reflects light beautifully, and it is really gorgeous. It'll have a place in my living room. ❤️

"The kindest thing you can do to a new team member is to involve them in something real and challenging right away. Don't squander weeks of new-job enthusiasm with baby rails and play tasks. Get them into the deep end right from the start." world.hey.com/dhh/start-them…

Using app classes in migrations is fine and I do it. What if the class changes over time? Irrelevant, migrations are ephemeral deltas that could be deleted once in production. When you join a project, you load the db schema, or download an anonymized db snapshot.
Git Tip: Running `git checkout -` changes to the previously accessed branch just like `cd -` changes to the previous directory. You can use it with other commands too such as `git rebase -` to rebase off of the previous branch.
Impressed with @flydotio's "V2" offering so far. Your app can scale down to 0 instances but then start up (quickly) on demand. Think Heroku, except faster, cheaper, *regional*, and you only pay for the seconds the app runs. It's like serverless, edge, and VMs having a party.
I'm starting to wonder Tuple might be over-niched. Even if staying in our lane were theoretically better, I'm not sure I can be a great product owner when I don't use it *myself* for pair programming. Kinda scared to leave the smaller pond, though.

If you’re thinking of buying Jumpstart Pro for your next Rails app; or are interested in some of my lessons learned over last 3 years, then I’ve written a few pages on how I set up new apps. And I took a sweet photo of myself looking spectacular. mocra.com/how-do-i-setup…
Shout out to @gregnavis. For a long time, he has been consistently publishing great Twitter technical threads covering Ruby/Rails topics. 💯
Exciting news: @AzulSystems has released builds of JDK 17 that include support for CRaC, "Coordinated Restore at Checkpoint", another feature using @__criu__ to capture a running process and restore it later on. Here's JRuby startup on CRaC... looking great!
