I call on the Australian government to #RaiseTheRate of all support payments to a living wage. This would be the single most effective way to lift the productivity, quality of life, and well-being of the whole country. #CommitToALivingWage
What could possibly go wrong! A “Support at Home” program that charges frail elders per shower looks less like 'care' and more like a wealth transfer scheme to private operators.
Great article. More Labor changes recycled from the Coalition. Just like the NDIS independent assessments. It's very clear Australia has become a uniparty. Labor has broken many promises to protect the most vulnerable. Stop ignoring Royal Commissions! They have answers!

Amphibious assault: Progressive Portland’s protesting frogs take air out of Trump’s arguments
The citizens of a progressive northwestern US city have found a creative, humorous way to undercut Donald Trump’s assertions of lawlessness.
This didn't age well..... 😕
What a relief! Excited that @billshortenmp will ensure the future of the ndis, its original goals, function and purpose. I trust wholeheartedly that Bill will be a champion of fixing the scheme and much anxiety has been relieved tonight. #AusVotes2022 #ndis
Disabled people are organising. Those who have been kicked off the NDIS or have had significant funding cuts are telling their stories & I am here for it. There’s an election storm a’brewin. Now was not the time to fuck over half a million Australians. We are crip & we vote.
Vaping policy updates in the senate. This is what failure looks like. Arson attacks, no pharmacy update, black market and uptake of smoking. Prohibition doesn't work. Only 30 years of worldwide failed public policy shows that #auspol youtu.be/ysH3rxpuyfo?si…

Senator Ross Cadell Call Out Vaping Regulation Faiure 21 Nov 2024
11/ - Store identity documents - Share data with authorities Future control framework: The bill's structure, particularly in Section 63C and 63F, creates infrastructure for: - Identity verification systems - User tracking capabilities - Content monitoring - Data sharing
9/ Expansion potential: The bill includes concerning provisions for expansion: - Section 63C allows Minister to specify additional services through rules - No limitations on what verification methods can be required - Can be modified without new legislation by bureaucrats
4/ - Allows data sharing if there is "consent" (which can be buried in terms of service) - Creates centralised identity verification databases - Has weak deletion requirements - Allows government access to verification data
This is about identity verification and nothing else. It is about making sure that Australians go through a particular process so that we can be data matched and so that they can carry out digital identity processes. It is NOT about kids' safety. Remember the COVID app?
Bronwyn bishop stood down over a helicopter flight. Sam Dastyari stood down over a dinner. 22 flights where you contact the CEO? Worth thousands and thousands of dollars. Albo needs to step down given the precedent of those who have stepped down for less. #auspol
Women with disability are 40 per cent more likely to experience domestic and family violence than women without disability. President Marayke Jonkers spoke to ABC about the ways perpetrators of domestic violence weaponise disability. buff.ly/4dnOPtv
A decade of us fighting, researching, helping get the NDIS on its feet, and now it's cut and we are back to disabled people being framed as a burden, and pushed between state and commonwealth govts. A huge step backwards an a concerning ongoing trend towards ableism
But we STILL can't challenge a random delegate's opinion that we have actually contravened the Act or misused funds. Which essentially translates to: "We'll label you guilty without the same procedural fairness we gave Robo architects, but we *might* waive it if you didn't know."
We need to face facts folks. A combo of poor pricing, forced assessments, proscriptions and increased NDIA powers means disabled people now face an #NDIS that is somehow more perverse, dreary, miserly, medicalised, confused and hopeless than the mess we left behind in 2013
I had so much hope in this government and this man. Tomorrow will be a dark day for the ndis. Block funding reasonable "budgets" not individual supports, in and out lists where I won't even be able to buy incontinence pads or wipes... is this what you promised us @billshortenmp ?
Bill Shorten is deleting all the lies he told. But unfortunately for him, I got everything. #ScreenShots #BullShitBillShorten #NDIS
WHY the actual FUCK are journalists not writing about the fact that supports have been cut by millions without the legislation being passed?? “The latest NDIS quarterly report reveals scheme spending for 2023-24 came in $600 million below the budget estimate. #Auspol #SaveOurNDIS
