Abortion and Soundbites: Why Pro-Choice Arguments Are Harder to Make areomagazine.com/2019/07/23/abo… via @areomagazine Been saying for a while that pro life arguments are *seemingly* better on their surface, until you dig deeper.

Abortion isn't murder. Denying the use of your body as a commodity of life support is not murder.

The human right to life doesn't mean you can take someone else's kidney because you need it to survive. Women are not organ banks.

So, murder is wrong, by definition. Children are wrong to kill, almost by definition. If you are equating abortion with either of these, and the combination, you are simply assuming that abortion is wrong. You can't assume that. And you don't have good reason to believe that.

In the midst of an unfathomably brutal war, where tens of thousands of people are dead and many more are starving and fearing for their lives, leaning even further away from humanity and glorifying murderous crimes against civilians is not actually good or laudable or an example…

An American professor, Jodi Dean, calls Oct 7 "exhilarating," claims Hamas is supported by "the entirety of the Palestinian left" & applies Leila Khaled's defense of "the justness of hijacking." I don't imagine any Verso editors will resign à la Guernica. versobooks.com/blogs/news/pal…

The draft ended in 1973. There is no move to bring it back, as we have an all volunteer military inside women. Women wanted to be included, and men prevented SS from applying to women.

Cheating is a betrayal in a relationship and can be a dealbreaker but far too many people treat it as the objective worst betrayal and think it’s ok to judge others for choosing to stay after being cheated on.

So I can use your body against your will? If you think a fetus has the same rights as anyone else & you think a fetus can use a woman’s body… then you’re agreeing that anyone can use anyone’s body w/ zero consent or agreement- that we can force ppl to make their body available

I have a question for the pro-life to pro-choice converts. What changed your mind? If you consider yourself personally pro-life but pro-choice for others I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.

"The unborn" are welcome to all the same and ONLY the same freedoms as anyone else. Guess what happens to anyone else inside me against my will ???

“A just state protects freedom for all”. Correct, all humans, including the unborn.

You know who has spent hundreds of years developing extremely detailed, bizarre, scientifically illiterate and highly ideological theories about gender? The Catholic Church.

I think a bunch of power-hungry misogynists pretending to be virgins who systemically covered up thousands of child rapes maybe shouldn’t be making the rules about morality and human dignity.

If it doesn't require my consent to be inside me, I don't require its consent to kick it out! :)

It's a problem. People who want to ban things should be clear about what it is they want to ban. But keeping terms vague allows everyone to assume that "late term" or "elective" means whatever they individually believe is "too late" or "unjustified"

The world watched the Rwandan genocide without lifting a finger to help. The world only intervened in WWII bec Germany was threatening to conquer them. Now Sudan & Gaza are begging us to bear witness. All the pearl clutching about genocide is meaningless without action

Ness a reposté

Don’t believe anything Trump says on abortion. Of course he’ll sign a national ban if it makes it to his desk
