There is no room for complacency. We are turning the tide, but we all have to stay vigilant - local flare ups will happen. There is no doubt that the numbers have drastically improved. For that to continue we all need to play our part - keep your distance & wash your hands!

There's been 413 UK coronavirus deaths in the last 24 hours. This is I think the lowest for at least 3 weeks, which indicates that the lockdown measures are having an effect.
Fewest number of deaths reported for this month today at 413 vs the last 3 Sundays - 596, 737, 621. Don't focus on the daily figures (good or bad), look to the trends. The peak is behind us. Work to do, but we are finally seeing significant progress on the mortality trend.

All I hear in these press conferences is "the equipment is on its way" and we are "ramping up" our capacity to cope. We have known about the threat for months. NHS staff are crying out for help.
What troubles me about the UK govt’s response to COVID-19 is its strategic objective. The goal seems to have been herd immunity, delaying urgent action to allow an epidemic to infect large numbers of people. Instead, the goal should have been to save lives. A grave error.
