I just did a high school tour and honestly, I'm pretty sure I'm not old enough* to be making these kinds of decisions. *adult enough
So many of my current edits involve vigorous back and forth with the author and/or publisher, and I'm loving the satisfaction that collaboration brings. It's the best way to ensure the best result for everyone, and it's so nice to be bouncing creative ideas around like this!
Woman on her phone in a playground: Sorry I can’t hear you. I’m in a tunnel (gets into concrete tunnel that is part of the playground equipment): Yep sorry. You’re gone.
Some (most) weeks, freelancing is the best thing ever. Other weeks, 50% of your work for the month gets delayed, and it's always the month in which you also have school fees and slow-paying clients. It's a ride. 🙄
This amazing book just arrived on my doorstep. It's a cracking read, I'm so excited to have a copy! Congratulations @RaeCairnsWrites, and thank you, @roberta_ivers and @HarperCollinsAU 👏

Does anyone else get super freaked out by serifed fonts appearing on Instagram? Just me? Never mind then...

Getting to the point where I will prioritise work for clients who pay promptly. These payment shenanigans are getting a bit ridic, publishers!
Comps! This exquisite book absolutely knocked me flat (and yes, the proofread pages were tear-stained). It's beautiful, I'm so excited to see it out in the world!
I just heard a wonderful expression: the Bunnings-Kruger effect – when you overestimate your renovation or DIY home handy skills
Damn right. And a word count too, please, even if it's rough. There's a huge difference between an 80k edit and a 120k one - I can't allow enough time if I don't have this info.
