Made the plunge - threads.net/@revise_sci This is where you'll find me from now on! Goodbye Twitter. Not deleting the account - just using it to point towards my Threads account.
Does anyone have a spreadsheet with hazcard information - @CLEAPSS pdfs are great, but not very easy to search for information (and copy it into risk assessments) easily. Would love a copy if you have it, rather than have to make my own! Trying to set up @LabLogger_Sci
Okay… so I’ve been pretty blasé about switching apps, but this takes the biscuit now. Where are we moving to? I’m done here.
I find this divide in political affiliation so odd, I wonder if there's a way to measure scientific literacy and correlate this data too.
Environment secretary Thérèse Coffey has said the Conservative party must show it cares about the environment Last week we found that most Britons think the government aren't taking tackling climate change seriously (54%) yougov.co.uk/topics/politic…

If you believe a media that tells you that it's wrong for a Doctor, Nurse, Rail Worker, teacher to get a pay rise but it's OK that a hereditary billionaire, who avoided inheritance tax to get a 45% pay rise from £86m to £125m, then you are part of the problem.
The sort of @TeacherTapp stat that should make policymakers squirm. Teachers in deprived areas most likely to say a pupil in their form left to be home-educated this year.
England teacher training update: recruitment for September still well below target across most secondary subjects. Looks like recruiting teachers will be very challenging for secondary schools in 2024
Are you beginning to get that ‘End of Year’ feeling? We asked more than 10,000 of you, your thoughts on this very challenging academic year. How quickly can you locate the word you used to describe this year? 🔍
It’s more based on which version of the uniform they choose to wear
From the Guardian this morning, one chart to tell you all you need to know about for whose benefit the economy is now run:
Yeah, it’s a bit hot, but it’s summer. Let’s keep drilling for new oil. Who cares about about our kids and their kids’ future anyway?
The heatwave in southern Europe intensifies further today/tomorrow Here are some of the forecast peak temperatures Many coastal areas will remain a touch cooler. Nights remain hot too bbc.in/3DgzlIl
Sunak can’t find the £2.5bn to fund the 6% pay rises. But he found £6bn for an aircraft carrier that doesn’t work. £5bn a year for HS2 that won’t be finished till 2042 £4.8bn for ONE railway station. £7bn to fix Parliament £7.2bn a year for banks Obvious why there’s a shortage
After the amount of striking and work the profession has put into this fight to restore our great profession, it feels slightly anticlimactic that the union wants us to support this offer. This is neither at/above the inflation busting pay deal we wanted, nor is it fully funded
🔊 Calling all @NEUnion members. As a result of your strike action last week – there has been an important development in our PayUp! Save Our Schools campaign. Government has offered a 6.5% pay rise for teachers with extra money for schools to pay for it and action to tackle…
I worry when it’s cited that centralised behaviour systems deskill staff. Last time I looked they have to juggle… Teaching Curriculum Planning Questioning Pre- emoting misconceptions Knowing their stuff How much do we expect them to be “skilled” at.
This proves how useless an @ofsted grade is. The grade was changed within less than a year, but most schools have theirs stick for multiple. They’ve proven their own flaw, and it’s disgusting and saddening someone had to die for this

Visit 20 science departments in deprived areas (or probably any area in fact) and have a good look at the staffing. You will find teachers teaching out of subject, out of specialism, or even with recruitment still needed! Pay teachers properly.
Excellent visit to the @educationgovuk Sheffield office. I enjoyed meeting our dedicated team in person, including the regions team who work with schools across the country. It was an opportunity to thank them for their tireless work to shape the future of education and care.
