Reason #4327 to get off iOS
Make no mistake about it - Apple is now the largest threat to Web3 with their most recent App Store Guidelines that they published today. Apps Are Bullshit Part Deux. A thread below on the implications this has for Web3 & Crypto 🧵
And working more on my iPhone makes me feel the same way about smartphones: go big (screen) and take control (operating system). I’m eyeing Android. It probably improved performance and consistently ala Surface, right?
Above 10” I want a Surface, not an iPad. It took 10 years to reach that conclusion (because of improving Surface products, primarily).
Is this reason #2 that Android went big with screens earlier? Bigger screens helps users forgive performance hiccups and interface inconsistency? (Reason #1 being bigger batteries for better battery life.)
Maybe it’s my use of cell phones pre-smartphone in living memory, with their super simple and super snappy OSes on super small screens. iOS on a small screen best delivers this experience, but falls apart as the screen grows.
And I love interacting with the touchscreens on iOS devices. It’s a game: pinch to zoom in and out, start and stop scrolling, playing with momentum. But it doesn’t make up for iOS’s inflexibility.
I’ve always chafed using iPads because the lack of advanced features. (You know, the old story about things like file management, etc.)
The snappiness of iOS shines in a small form factor, and its limitations shrink down as the display size shrinks down.
I just want an Ovation parlor guitar. Is that too much to ask?
they already think your a nerd because you’re glasses 👈🤣🥸
