The Animal Welfare Bill by @DannyVet has become law. This is a turning point for animal welfare in the UK - eradicating cruel practices, stopping pet mutilation and cracking down on the scourge of illegal puppy smuggling.
Tonight Lib Dem MPs voted against the unfair family farm tax. We’re gutted that Labour MPs voted for it. The tax will hammer many farmers earning below the minimum wage and will reduce the amount of food the UK can produce. It is cruel and stupid. We’ll keep on fighting it.
Last week I secured my Ten Minute Rule Bill calling for a new, bespoke UK–EU customs union. I’ll present it to Parliament on 9 December.
High streets are struggling, with pubs, restaurants and cafés shutting their doors. Cutting VAT on hospitality and energy would put money back in people’s pockets, support local jobs, and give the country a much-needed boost.
OH MY LIFE!!! This weekend, TBP will be 7 years old!!! How on Earth did that happen? Not bad for something we used to call "a fancy off-licence". We've had ups & downs! Spats with CWaC, survived lockdowns, won local, regional & national awards, & run a fab beer festival too!
I have such a deep respect for this man. The very definition of a true statesman. How sad to have lost him.
Ming Campbell was a dedicated public servant and a true Liberal giant. His principled leadership opposing the Iraq War was a mark of his morality, courage and wisdom. But more than that, he was an incredibly warm and caring friend and colleague. We will miss him terribly.
