@lifeatpurdue | building rover swarms for earth and beyond
world, i present to you, our rover: -design and developed in just over a month in my parent’s basement -custom wheel design for rugged terrain -lunar-inspired suspension assembly for uneven surfaces -live camera feed starting to explore new sensor configurations next
ok. now what.
Just move to SF, it will change your life. Go in debt if you have to.
Thank you, Mr. President @POTUS, for this opportunity. It will be an honor to serve my country under your leadership. I am also very grateful to @SecDuffy, who skillfully oversees @NASA alongside his many other responsibilities. The support from the space-loving community has…
I am really liking the energy and focus on the Moon--especially any endeavor that could unlock an orbital or lunar economy. We are never going to have the future we dream of w/numerous space stations and lots of people working and traveling in space, if it all depends exclusively…
about to risk it all to build the greatest rover platforms in the world. all or nothing now.
the way autonomous systems should be
Lattice! No wizard behind the curtain, no hidden throttle or stick, just hyper-focused AI designed to be better than any human at a small handful of very specific and very demanding tasks.
in the future you can just send your robots trick or treating for you
0 → 1 first sketch i did 3 months ago compared to our most recent cad assembly. still a long way to go.
For the first time in our existence, we possess the means, technology, and, for the moment, the will to establish a permanent human presence beyond Earth. Starship is designed to make this future a reality → spacex.com/updates/#moon-…
love this. i’m a VERY firm believer that robots need to have character, often time this means giving them some kind of a “face”. most just use a screen with animations to pull this off. i think that’s the lazy way to do it. getting creative with camera/sensor placement to…
Happy Halloween from Reachy Mini! You'll be able to 3D print these skins at home thanks to open-source
OUT FOR DELIVERY
i just ordered so much filament. i ordered so much filament i dont think i'll ever run out again. in hindsight a lathe would've been cheaper, and taken up less space. that's how much filament i ordered. im gonna have a lot of filament. there might even be a filament shortage.
i solved a mechanical design problem in my dreams last night. woke up and sketched it before i would forget. just tested it out and it worked. this has been bugging me for over a week and it was all i could think about. who said it was bad to grind in your sleep.
another rover demo today. everyone has noticed and commented on the responsiveness. unnoticeable latency with tele operations + onboard video feed. there’s no better feeling than seeing the the surprise that they can control the rover from their own homes, and then the…
i have many thoughts about @Extropic_AI > their branding is immaculate > the chip design is infinitely cooler than anything else i’ve seen @BasedBeffJezos and team cooked. would love to get these chips in our rovers.
