The use of “ideology” in the the term “gender identity ideology” is sometimes criticised for being hyperbolic. But it perfectly describes a belief set so corrupting that it causes a (self-described) feminist to support male violence against women at a feminist conference.
Events that inflame division and create tension should be guarded against and @BrightonHoveCC needs better policies for which events it will host in our council-owned venues. The choice of Brighton was clearly provocative from organisers and the problems caused predictable.
She is aware of her political, legal, safeguarding & leadership failing she has been in receipt of legal correspondence & complaints since November 2022 at latest. She’s also failed to create conditions for dialogue between multiple sectors which also makes her a crap politician
What I would also say to @BellaSankey who will undoubtedly try to say that it’s unfair her to he receiving flak because she is a women council leader. Her sex is irrelevant in the context of her catalogue of leadership failures to protect & safeguard women, children in this city
As a fellow Labour cllr, I'm grateful to @BellaSankey for condemning the violent tactics of those who can't bear to see women gather, think & speak for themselves. A statement of support for our right to do so- as part of Brighton's rich feminist history- would be very welcome.

‘Clearly provocative’. The go to excuse of abusers. Quite the thing for a MP to ascribe motives (without evidence) and then justify the aggression towards women on the grounds of that ‘provocation’. Is it so hard to denounce male aggression - full stop? Without blaming women?

Just wild. ‘If you will go allowing women to speak out, don’t be surprised when men try to shut them up.’ We used to get the ‘no debate’ insulting arrogance. This goes one step further and blames women for making men angry. As I say - just wild.
