For those who are/were doing Software Testing: 1. What’s your number one tip for those starting their careers? 2. What’s the biggest life lesson you were able to get from the principles of software testing?
Some other notes. Quality cannot be assured except by people who have real control over decisions about the product—and even those people cannot assure others’ perceptions of quality. Perception of quality is ephemeral, subject to sudden or long-term change.
Quality is value to some person(s), at some time. Not a property of a product (service, idea, etc.) but a relationship between person, product, and context. Not strictly rational, but emotional—based on what someone likes or wants—and political, rooted in in whose values matter.

Which is more likely: a) The company suffers a multimillion-dollar loss. b) A tester, unable to write code, fails to write an automated check, and misses a bug, causing a multimillion-dollar loss?
