Hello! I know there are some incredible basketball minds that follow me so I wanted to post that I am looking for a job in basketball, specifically college basketball. Below is a thread of my work. Please message me if you have any questions or advice!
Nate Oats calling a defensive timeout with a little over 32 seconds to steal an extra possession and counter opposing teams stalling their inbounds to only allow for one shot. Doesnt “work” but they also jump the ball handler coming out of the timeout. Really interesting.
Rejecting STS Action into an Inverted Ghost: Hard to Guard.
These duck-ins are a great way to counter teams trying to switch the stagger. This is an easy way for a coach to scheme a bucket in an out of bounds situation.
Villanova’s 1-2-2 ¾ court press under Jay Wright wasn’t about chaos It was about control A soft press that disrupted rhythm and created selective trapping opportunities
Late game SLOB from Armani Milano to get a good look from three.
Arizona has the best frontcourt in the country. Everybody spent the whole summer talking around them but they may be the only group in college that can dominate Florida like this. How many teams can shoot SIX threes and beat the defending national champs.
It is hard for me to not see Rui Hachimura when watching Kao Peat. He is going to have a fantastic season which I think ends with him being a lottery pick.
Great second side stagger with a twirl to create an open three for Bradley
He was the star of that defense that nobody talked about. Sion was the best gap defender/decision-maker in college basketball. Combine that with his frame and you have a legit NBA defender.
Sion James could have averaged 20 PPG at Tulane. He probably goes undrafted with uncertain NBA future. Instead goes to Duke, plays a role perfectly & averaged 8-4-3. Scouts saw that & projected out. Picked early second & now starting in the NBA. Don’t get caught up in stats…
The corner pin down paired with a middle ball screen is common (because it’s good). What makes this interesting is using an away screen instead of the typical ram screen.
Fun opening set from Duke. Using dummy motion to get into away Miami rip. Very similar to Spain but the Miami action makes it harder to recognize and the defense is late to switch.
Basketball's relationship with time is unique compared to other sports. Basketball coaches risk valuable possessions if their late clock offense flounders. In this realm, I wrote on how coaches can improve their situational offense in my article found below!
Great defense but I love this Iverson Curl counter from Duke. Fantastic addition to a set that many coaches use.
