In context of backend: The major difference b/w a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair
Vercel’s Team is really quick and Vercel’s auto fixes were genuinely helpful for my live apps. But ease ≠ correctness. Separation of concerns still wins.
React Server Components didn’t “break security.” They reminded us why UI logic and server execution were separated in the first place. Blur concerns =blur trust boundaries. Principles > features.
Old data, new systems. Still perfectly in sync.
Everyone saying “AI will end software engineering” really? Then why didn’t Claude just fork Bun? MIT license hai bro, anyone can take the code and ship their own version. But Anthropic still spent millions + aqua-hired the whole team. If AI could replace programmers, Claude…
One of many emails I wake up to… ❤️ Truly humbling. 🙏
What you usually use for inter services communications -Json RPC -gRPC
Monitoring isn’t dashboards. It’s answers. Why did this break? How fast can we fix it?
True, Vercel can feel like a wrapper on AWS with higher costs. Still, it’s an incredible platform, removing complexity, great for students, I’m glad it exists. But as you grow as a developer, I highly recommend exploring AWS, GCP, or other clouds for real control and scalability.
Most people think of Redis as a simple cache. Fast. In-memory. Done. But at scale, Redis becomes an entire system on its own. Sentinel, replication, clustering, these are not features, they are survival tactics. That’s what my session today is about #backend #distributedsystem
