#HubbleFriday At a distance of 56 million light-years and measuring 157,000 light-years across, M49 was the first member of the Virgo Cluster of galaxies to be discovered, and it is more luminous than any other galaxy at its distance or nearer: go.nasa.gov/2FsRINc
#HubbleClassic The mighty gravitational field of a massive cluster of galaxies known as Abell 2218 bends time and space, warping the light from galaxies behind the cluster. Curved arcs of light are the distorted apparitions of background galaxies billions of light-years away.
#HubbleFriday This star-studded image shows us a portion of Messier 11 which is also known as the Wild Duck Cluster, as its brightest stars form a “V” shape that somewhat resembles a flock of ducks in flight: go.nasa.gov/2FvXnRa
Thank you to Jaylen Brown (@FCHWPO) and the @Celtics for stopping by. Hope you had a ball touring Hubble's Space Telescope Operations Control Center today @NASAGoddard!
Tonight is the #NationalChampionship game! Did you know Edwin Hubble was a gifted basketball player? He and his @UChicago team even won a conference title. His basketball flew in space with fellow alum John Grunsfeld (@SciAstro) on the telescope’s final servicing mission.
You don’t have to fly far to study interstellar space. There are two NASA missions designed to observe it from relatively close to home: the Interstellar Boundary Explorer (IBEX) now in Earth orbit, and the Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP) launching in 2024.
The new episode of #NASAScience Live, which will take you to the very edge of our solar system, begins at 3pm ET: go.nasa.gov/2FwQjUt Questions? Use #askNASA Meanwhile, here are 10 things to know about going interstellar: go.nasa.gov/2OrIJi9

Time for take two! 🎬 #ParkerSolarProbe begins its second solar encounter phase on March 30. Its closest solar approach for this orbit — called perihelion — happens on April 4. Details: blogs.nasa.gov/parkersolarpro…
Saturn’s rings seem serene from a distance. But Cassini’s daring flybys of the mini-moons nestled in and near the rings revealed how active and dynamic the ring-moon system really is. See how ring materials coat and shape these tiny worlds: go.nasa.gov/2FE2xur
First close look at the first planet: today in 1974 our Mariner 10 spacecraft became the first to fly by the planet Mercury solarsystem.nasa.gov/planets/mercury
Today in 2008, our Cassini spacecraft captured these “beauty marks” on Saturn’s cloud tops as the moons Tethys and Mimas cast their shadows go.nasa.gov/2uzjst3
The Space Between: interstellar space is often called the space between the stars, but more specifically, it’s the region between our Sun’s heliosphere and the astrospheres of other stars. Find out how that works - go.nasa.gov/2OrIJi9
It's #SunDay! ☀️ Yesterday, #ParkerSolarProbe started its second solar encounter, a phase when all of its instruments are collecting and storing science data. The spacecraft will make its closest solar approach for this orbit on April 4. More details: blogs.nasa.gov/parkersolarpro…
These boots were made for moonwalking! Our @LRO_NASA camera team carefully reconstructed the traverse of Apollo 11 astronauts Neil Armstrong and @TheRealBuzz on a minute-by-minute basis. Take a trip back in time: go.nasa.gov/2FHPB6O
Not your everyday satellite dish. 📡 This is a full-scale prototype antenna for our spacecraft now undergoing testing at @NASA_Langley. No ordinary programming, either! 📺 The final version will transmit images & data about Jupiter’s moon Europa. Details: go.nasa.gov/2TPUbFc
Season 3 of our Gravity Assist podcast is coming soon. And it’s all about lunar science and our journey from #Moon2Mars. For now, catch up on Seasons 1 and 2. Our favorite episode? The Moon with Sarah Noble😉nasa.gov/gravity-assist
