Are you anxious by another Scala meetup in Lisbon?
Incredibly happy that "Scala from Scratch: Understanding" is now available as a hardcover book: blurb.com/b/10331214-sca…

In Scala, I don't like a few things. Some of them: - cake pattern - traits mixin + Reader monad for dependency injection - using an Object and the apply function instead of using a class to implement a trait - abusing implicits
In Project Loom, the precise, accurate name 'fiber' was changed to 'virtual thread'. Why? Because 'fiber' must be explained, but developers know what 'virtual' means & they know 'thread', so they can guess at what a 'virtual thread' is. There's a lesson for the observant.
After nearly two years of hard work, I am excited to announce "Foundations of Functional Programming in Scala" is now available in an Early Access Program! youtu.be/OdPaWmRnAc4 #Scala #functionalprogramming

sbt-dependecy-tree will now be part of sbt itself. This makes me happy. eed3si9n.com/sbt-1.4.0-beta
To celebrate the paperback launch of my book handsonscala.com, I'm offering a limited time 50% discount code for anyone who wants to purchase the e-book: `paperback-launch`. Feel free to use it and share it around among anyone who wants to learn #Scala!
It’s interesting how many things people are dogmatic about are complementary OO vs FP, sealed vs open hierarchies, switch/match vs virtual dispatch, data structures vs visitors, minimal vs rich interfaces There’s no universal “better” in these, only “better fit for my use case”
Dotty error messages are really cleverly done: [error] | Found: Expr.Value.Boolean [error] | Required: Boolean² [error] | [error] | where: Boolean is a class in object Value [error] | Boolean² is a class in package scala
Latest physical proof of my book handsonscala.com seems to be a mis-print: with 14 unwanted blank pages inside the front cover resulting in a spine that no longer lines up with the cover design. Have reached out to @IngramSpark for help, hopefully they can help sort it out

"The Rise of Loom and the Evolution of Reactive Programming" Don't miss one of my last talks of the year, where I demystify Loom, debunk myths, & show you where reactive programming is heading. Sponsored by the functional superstars at @evoneering. 🎇 meetup.com/ZIO-Meetup-UK/…
A quick reminder about our Free Scala Africa Program happening on the 30th of August dedicated to the African Developer. This will be our first training of the year about Scala 3 by @propensive & @zivergetech ziverge.com/blog/african-s…
Pretty happy that the integration between Scala @hedgehogqa and minitest that I've been working on has been released. Have a look: github.com/hedgehogqa/sca…
Scala 3's extension method syntax has changed quite a few times, but I could not be happier where it ended up. These are the extension methods we've all been waiting for! 🎉
I played around with the new ZIO Prelude library for a couple of days. Here's a brain dump of my first impressions: justinhj.github.io/2020/08/02/wha…
I'm excited about #Scala3. I'm excited about Loom. I think that Scala 3 running on Loom will be the closest I'll get to a "gamechanger" to my everyday work in the next 10-15 years.
