Today marks the one-year anniversary of the lockdown of Wuhan. By seeing the big contrast between the emptiness of the city a yr ago and the liveliness of the city now, it brings hope of the days when Boston is back to normalcy and I can see colleagues & students. A thread(1/n)
In Wuhan, China, the first city in the world to be devastated by the coronavirus, the long months of lockdown have now faded from view. nyti.ms/2M1yCUh

You think only 15 million Americans have been infected with covid? Think again. A solid estimate is at least 60 million and perhaps as many as 80 million have been hit, with over 3 million in the past week. economist.com/graphic-detail…
To explain. The relevant comparison is not PCR sensitivity v. rapid test sensitivity. It is between the probability of getting a PCR test, the turnaround time, & the sensitivity of that test vs. the prob. of getting a rapid test, the turnaround time, and the RAT sensitivity.

Useful primer on the benefits of masks. A recommendation from CDC for consumers to wear cotton masks (with guidelines on how to fashion these products from household items) can improve safety and reduce spread and not strain the hospital supply chain. medium.com/@Cancerwarrior…
1) Here is my personal take on masks (and there are much more knowledgeable experts on this, who might disagree - follow up with @bencowling88 and @Don_Milton). Mask as part of the strategy to mitigate COVID19. They are PART, they are not a magic bullet.....
Study of 206 monoclonal antibodies against #SARSCoV2 isolated from 8 #COVID19 patients. Some antibody clones are highly effective at neutralizing live SARS-CoV-2 virus in cells, suggesting that we now know human antibody sequences that would be effective COVID-19 drugs. (1/2)
Tonight #DeborahBirx stated that models anticipating large-scale transmission of COVID-19 do not match reality on the ground. Our modeling (done by @StephenKissler based on work with @ctedijanto and @yhgrad and me) is one of the models she is talking about.
