Day 2 is off to a great start!

Thank you to our friends at @afconeorg for co-hosting such a great discussion!

What stands out to me is the inclusion of “bilateral safeguards agreements”. Will be interesting to see what that looks like and what role the @iaeaorg will play.

Today was historic as the U.S. and Saudi Arabia came together on a civil nuclear cooperation deal. Together, with bilateral safeguard agreements, we want to grow our partnership, bring American nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia and keep a firm commitment to nonproliferation.…

🚨🚨🚨HOT OFF THE PRESS: @NTI_WMD, @BelferCenter, and @CarnegieEndow’s Task Force on Nuclear Proliferation and US National Security launched a new report today that provides a bipartisan blueprint for how the US can prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. nti.org/news/bipartisa…

We very much appreciate our strong cooperation with @iaeaorg on key issues that help make our world a safer place. Thank you @rafaelmgrossi for your keen insights!

Productive exchange with @NTI_WMD's @scottroecker at #IAEAGC on our shared commitment to advancing nuclear energy and non-proliferation. Their research and policy work continue to inform about global efforts, and we at the @IAEAorg value our long-standing cooperation.

#IAEAGC is underway! Standing room only - it is the most crowded I have seen it in the last 15 years. Multiple objections to the election of officers, which doesn't bode well for consensus moving forward.

A somber day. 80th anniversary of the first nuclear weapon used in war. I continue to be amazed by the strength of the people of Hiroshima. #CranesForOurFuture

There are many challenges associated with the 400 kg of weapons-usable HEU in Iran. My @NTI_WMD colleagues @scottroecker & @BrewerEricM write in @ForeignPolicy about the risk of nuclear materials falling into the wrong hands if the Iran regime falls. foreignpolicy.com/2025/07/09/ira…

The inevitable chaos that would accompany regime change in Iran could present the most serious nuclear security challenge since the fall of the Soviet Union, @BrewerEricM and @scottroecker write. foreignpolicy.com/2025/07/09/ira…

Very important. This means the world will have little to no information on what is happening with Iran’s nuclear program and specifically its highly enriched uranium.

Pay attention, this is important. (Also covered this in my @ForeignAffairs piece this morning.)

I spoke with @ErinBurnett @OutFrontCNN about the new DIA damage assessment on the U.S. attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordow. Military strikes alone won't be able to stop Iran's nuclear program. ⬇️ bit.ly/44ypX16

You can’t launch an attack on another country and expect no response. Hope this is not going to lead to another protracted war for the U.S. in the Middle East.

BREAKING: Iran has attacked a U.S. base in Qatar, according to a U.S. official and Iranian State TV. @IanPannell has the latest: abcnews.link/FMWieEo

Add to this the recent announcement of a third enrichment facility and all of sudden it looks like the military strikes will lead to the exact opposite effect of the stated outcome.

Iran also likely still controls a stockpile of advanced centrifuges that it had built and stored but never installed. Sounds like the makings of a great new covert program. Well done guys.

U.S. joins the attack against Iran’s nuclear program. The inconvenient truth is that you cannot eliminate a nuclear program through military strikes. The knowledge remains and equipment can be rebuilt.

Breaking News: President Trump said that the U.S. had bombed Fordo, Iran’s heavily fortified nuclear facility, as well as two other sites. nyti.ms/4law6Gm

We can safely and securely scale nuclear energy if we do it the right way! We are at an inflection point - read more here: nti.org/news/executive…

Great analysis from someone who knows!

I worked at the NIC. This is a big deal. The result will be an IC less willing to tell the president and other leaders what they need to know rather than what they want to hear. America will be less secure because of it. 1/ washingtonpost.com/national-secur…
