Exciting news from Cambridge, where a donation has funded a permanent lectureship (“Assistant Professorship”) in the History of Knowledge Pre-1400. The only explicit restriction is “not medicine”, but it is in the Dept of History and Philosophy of Science. jobs.cam.ac.uk/job/53305/

Yesterday I visited the National Shrine of St Rita of Cascia on Broad Street in Philly. I had no idea it was there beforehand, but it turned out to be a beautiful church featuring a crypt-level packed with Augustinian statuary & relics galore. Would recommend!

I very much enjoyed the 50th International PMR (Patristic/Medieval/Renaissance) Conference at @VillanovaU this past weekend. Stellar plenaries from Sarah Coakley & Niklaus Largier and just really thought-provoking papers all around. Nice setting, too: www1.villanova.edu/university/lib…
