Mecklenburg was a success! SMART had a great time competing as a member of Alliance 8 alongside SeQuEnCe and the ThunderBirdz, placing 5th overall in the playoffs. Additionally, the team recieved the Gracious Professionalism award. What a great end to the competition!
First day of the Mecklenburg event was a success! We finished the day in rank 14, had a great Impact Award presentation, and even got to give a tour to a few of Mecklenburg County's local politicians. We look forward to what tomorrow has in store, and we hope to "sea" you there!
This weekend's UNCA competition was a blast! We competed in the playoffs as a member of the Seventh Alliance with The Gorillas and RobCoBots. SMART was also awarded the Creativity Award for our unique and innovative endgame mechanism, the "Hot Steppa." See you all at Mecklenburg.
SMART had a great first day of competition at the UNC-Asheville district event! We had a great time today, finishing off the day in rank 15. Our fantastic Impact team also presented this afternoon. We can't wait to finish out qualification matches and jump into playoffs tomorrow!
SMART had a great time at NC FIRST Advocacy Day in Raleigh. Two of our team members met with our state senator Kevin Corbin and shared the impact FIRST has on our students. We're so proud of them for representing FIRST and Wetern North Carolina well in our state capital!
We can't believe that it's already been three weeks since kickoff! SMART has been hard at work developing a robot unlike anything we've done before. Our build, code, and PR teams have all been working to create a unique product. We can't wait to share what we have in store!

We just wrapped up our FIRST LEGO League Explore program at Fairview School. Fun times building, coding and creating together!
Join SMART and the Fairview FIRST Lego Leage Explore program for their wrap-up celebration! It will take place on December 16th at 5 pm in the Fairview Media Center. These students have worked hard all semester and are excited to show you what they've accomplished!
Now until December 12th, team SMART is co-hosting a food drive with the SMHS Science Olympiad team! We are accepting non-perishable food, hygiene products, and paper goods. Donations will stock the Free Little Pantry in Sylva. For any questions, email us at [email protected]!
We had a great time at THOR West yesterday! We ended at rank 11, earning us the spot of Alliance Captain 7 with our awesome teammates @hotbotz2640 and @labyrinth_robotics! We can't wait to see you guys in just a few short months for the 2025 FRC season!
That's a wrap on our annual STEM day camp at Southwestern Community College! Last week, team SMART hosted ten rising middle school students to teach them about bulding, coding, and STEM. We couldn't have done this without the help of SCC and the Smoky Mountain Stem Collaborative.
We're halfway through our annual middle school STEM camp hosted at SCC. Team SMART has been working with rising middle schoolers from across the county on building and coding skills using the SPIKE Prime robot kits, as well as demonstrating our 2020 FRC robot IC-19 for students.
Yesterday, Western Carolina University's College of Engineering stopped by our STEM camp to demonstrate a robot from Boston Dynamics for the team. This was a great example of what a future in engineering can do, and we are very grateful for the experience. Thank you to WCU!
Yesterday, Optimum representatives visited SMART during our summer STEM camp at SMHS. They came to award us with the Optimum Innovator Award honorable mention. Optimum is a sponsor for our team, and we enjoyed learning how to improve our community engagement. Thanks for visiting!
Team SMART had a great time at Greening Up the Mountains today! We were able to demo our most recent robot, BRAGI, to crowds, as well as fundraise and recruit for our upcoming summer camps. Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth!
Greening Up the Mountains is tomorrow! We'll be in downtown Sylva from 10-4 tomorrow to demo our robot to the community and fundraise for the future. Out booth will be located by the Sylva Herald. We hope to see you all there!
We had a great time volunteering at the off-season FIRST Lego League Challenge event with Henderson County Public Schools this weekend! Our students served as referees and scorekeepers, and two mentors served as judges with @1225_gorillas. Thank you for having us!
This past weekend was a memorable one for sure. Finishing this season off with a bang we are very happy to have made it this far. we look forward to our community outreach this summer and thank our sponsors and community supporters for helping make it to the State Championship!
