It's me! Could not have been done without all the help of @NathanProbably, @8thtree and @ilichenmoss. Spend a summer in Cardiff it's the best!
Latest paper out with the phenomenal @sophiebryo, @ilichenmoss, and @8thtree. A really neat way to find potentially misidentified specimens from large collections datasets. natsca.org/article/2891
"Early Career Researchers advocate for raising the profile of bryophyte ecological research" — Read it on @ResearchGate: researchgate.net/publication/38…
When @Garmin is life... But also graduated from @edgehill with a 1st in Plant Science and was awarded the @ernestcooktrust award. Now enjoying unemployment😅
🌿🔎 Did you know? Scotland has nearly 1000 kinds of moss, if you also include liverworts and hornworts, closely related plants. With ten marvellous mosses to find, explore the hidden world of mosses at @BenmoreBotGdn on our new Moss Trail 👉rbge.cc/Benmore
Just finished reading this fantastic book by @NeilElliotBell with absolutely stunning pictures! Now to persuade t'other half to find triathlons in areas with temperate rainforests 😍
There could be worse places to do my last exam for uni...
Great days at @RBGE_Science with our @BiologyEHU final year students. A very nice finish (almost) to their degree! @edgehill #plantscience #botany #plants
Last actual day on campus today 😢 but still three more assignments and two trips to go!
2/2 Using Bryophytes as test model, Sophie looked at collections data to help identify suspicious species to prioritise reidentifications. A really clever way to prioritise specimens for validation, allowing improvement of data quality in a more targeted way.
We all know our collections can have issues with misidentified specimens, so how can we better understand the problem to address it? Sophie Roberts offered a tool to address this in her talk "Suspicious Specimens" 1/2 #NatSCA2024
