Why does a 3000 line row-by-row INSERT script perform better with a GO after each statement than without? Script is only 481KB and takes a few seconds with GO and a few minutes without. It can’t all be parse/compile? #sqlhelp
Even though it's a pretty tiny read, it is executed hundreds of of times per second. Changing the FILLFACTOR from 100 to 80 resulted in either no change or slightly worse performance. Original tables did contain 50% fragmentation. Would like to know what else could be a factor?
#sqlhelp I have a query plan which doesn't change after an index rebuild incl. costs, rows, row size, etc. Even though reads & writes remain the same, worker time increases (0.1 to 0.6 ms). Reads are 99.9% logical reads, and back-end storage is high-end SAN. Any explanations?

Vancouver PASS Chapter Meetup August 2019 - Power BI Report Server: a Deep Dive by Luca Gualtieri, Co-founder & CTO PBILab this Thursday. Sponsored by #POF and our very own @SQLSocialite Don’t miss out, RSVP and details at vancouver.pass.org! #SQLServer #sqlpass #PowerBI
#sqlhelp optimizing indexes showed interesting impact when rebuilding sometimes: logical reads, worker time cut in half, but elapsed time doubles anyways. Could this be stats? No blocking wait diffs. Same test workload. Difference is use of parallelism.
If anyone is interested or knows someone who is, please pass them on to me for filling some careers. I can definitely vouch for how great it is to work at POF! Check it out here: #careers #businessintelligence #itdevelopment #itmanagement #poflife pof.com/careers.aspx?a…
#sqlhelp. I’ve reposted this question more clearly here about possible issue with DMV perf of dm_exec_query_stats: dba.stackexchange.com/q/202948/94927…
#sqlhelp weird issue with job to collect from dm_exec_query_stats INNER JOIN sys.dm_exec_cached_plans CROSS APPLY dm_exec_sql_text suddenly jumped in reads, writes, and cpu time 10x. No changes to code. Seems like autostats issue but how can it be fixed?
No we just impl. RG and moved on. It's been a week now and memory hasn't grown nor page life expectancy dropped since.
Wondering if you opened a ticked with Microsoft about this.
Yup, strange but true. We have 6TB of RAM, and memoryclerk_XTP consumed over 5TB, eventually paging out the buffer pool thrashing PLE too
Since RG is only in Ent. Ed., seems strange that it would be required. GC does not work for in-mem tbl variables only in-mem tbls.
We used to replace highly active user tables to queue notifications via push/pop. Ins/del ops mostly. Some table variable usage as well.
Would love to hear more about how you are using In-Mem in your environment. Tmp table replacement? User tables also?
