At this point, it's just objectively funny. The "cool kids" are mad that the coolest kid has invited the YIMBY nerds (who were correct the whole time) to the table.

This perspective on the libs is absurdly outdated. Today's American liberal wants to burn fascists at the stake, supports Palestine, despises billionaires, and thinks mainstream institutions are doing Trump's bidding. It's not 2019 anymore, they've become genuinely radicalized.

The No Kings rally is literally a Pro War rally. Tf is wrong with you people!?

The way democrats use identity politics is disgusting and not inclusive at all. They pick and choose which type of women, which type of minority, the exact age range or vulnerable group they want and then try to force that person onto the rest of us. If we don’t like them then…

The NDP has never been weaker — and that might be its greatest opportunity. In an age of precarity, Rob Ashton could make the NDP relevant again. My latest: Is an NDP led by Rob Ashton the worst nightmare for both Pierre Poilievre and Mark Carney? 👉 open.substack.com/pub/davidcolet…

really unfortunate that our side has a fringe albeit small group of terminally online losers that feel the need to shamelessly make up stuff.

I feel like "Maduro is bad and a dictator who's rigged multiple elections" and "the US shouldn't invade Venezuela under flimsy if not completely false pretenses to remove him from power" are completely separate questions. Nobody's saying go invade Russia to get rid of Putin

A leftist's opinions on Maduro is a great litmus test for whether they actually believe in leftist values or whether their entire worldview is simply based around "west bad"

People who have built lives here despite not being given papers by a broken immigration system can and indeed have been made legal at the stroke of a pen, most recently Ronald Reagan's. That's the right thing to do.

I just don’t get the anti-ICE stuff at all. They’re illegal immigrants. They can’t stay here. They need to leave. They should just leave on their own, which is the right thing to do. It’s annoying that they’re making us pay to round them up.

Not a single mention of the tens of thousands of Palestinians that were murdered by Israel. Absolutely shameful, though not surprised.

Congratulations to President Trump for his essential leadership and thank you to Qatar, Egypt and Türkiye for their tireless work to support the negotiations. I am relieved that the hostages will soon be reunited with their families. After years of intense suffering, peace…

Extremely interesting admission from @AmitSegal here: The key difference between a deal available in November 2023 v the one reached now is that in this one, Israel will get to occupy a portion of Gaza for some undetermined amount of time. So, IOW, all those killed, including…

There’s a new claim that “essentially, all that happened was Trump got tired, took control and forced it on Netanyahu, and this is basically the same deal that could have been reached a year earlier,” with the disturbing implication, that’s horrible to say, that IDF soldiers died…

Indeed. This has been the central sticking point since late 2023—Israel framing total victory as a “ceasefire,” and the only way it’s resolved is if the US president tells them to eat shit. Biden never did, Trump hasn’t for eight months. I’m skeptical—but hopeful—he will now

Israeli government officials are talking about the Gaza ceasefire very differently than Trump. They explicitly say they have not yet agreed to end the war.

I can’t believe this is almost working on me

Get mogged, Sean.

This is the key thing to understand here: Cultural progressivism supplanted economic populism as the Democratic Party’s tentpole because that is the only possible way to hold together a coalition where neoliberals are the senior partner on economic policy.

The corporate centrists have won every major showdown with the populist left over the last ten years. One of the strategic sacrifices they made to do so was making major concessions to cultural/identity-focused liberals, who they are now scapegoating for their failures.

Our healthcare system is for-profit, so its success is measured in profits. We need a healthcare system measured in better health outcomes and lives saved. That system would be universal healthcare with Medicare for All.

I’m glad Van Jones apologized for his sick joking about dead kids in Gaza.   But the problem goes deeper: he spread Netanyahu propaganda that the mass killings of civilians in Gaza—including 20K+ kids—is Iranian fake news. It’s not the students and young people who are fooled.…

I’m horrified to hear about the treatment of Sumud flotilla activists who where seeking to bring aid to Gaza. Canadians are appalled by the ongoing genocide, and I want to recognize the work of @HMcPhersonMP and the NDP caucus in ensuring Canada respects international law
