A frank 2h exchange w Sec. @howardlutnick and Amb. @jamiesongreer. I was clear: US tariffs are damaging, unjustified. The 🇪🇺🇺🇸 trade relationship needs a fresh approach. The EU's committed to meaningful negotiations but also prepared to defend our interests. We stay in touch.
US tariffs will harm the US, EU & global economy. That's why we want to avoid them. That's why we're saying to the US: There's a better way to do this. Let's sit down & discuss what that better way might look like. So we can avoid this pain - for you, for us, for everyone.
Another good meeting with the White House Foreign Press Group. I appreciate being able to learn how they perceive events here in Washington. I underscored that the transatlantic relationship benefits both Europe & America: 3.4 million American jobs are supported by EU investment.
Great to have an opportunity to discuss the vital EU - US economic relationship and how EU digital regulation strikes the appropriate balance with @jimsciutto on @cnni from Washington DC this evening 👇

While attending #NSCLSummit, I helped launch our new #trade and #investment footprint tool. Using thousands of data points, anyone can easily explore how the greater United States (and each specific state) benefits from trade with the EU. Some facts from the study 👇
In Kentucky, I stopped by @forviagroup_ North America, the 7th largest global auto parts supplier. Stunned to learn that no Ford truck in the US goes without European parts. Proof that so many of our supply chains our intertwined, and we need strong cooperation to maintain them.
Feeling energized after a great exchange with @GovAndyBeshear on bringing the EU and Kentucky closer together via trade, investments, and jobs. Amazing discussion on global affairs and the transatlantic partnership. And thanks for the bourbon lesson!
An impressive visit to @UPS in #Kentucky to learn about its 5.2 million sq. ft. Worldport facility. It processes 416,000 packages an hour & delivers to 220 countries and territories around the world. The EU-US #trade relationship is nothing without efficient shipping partners.
Evan Gershkovich, Alsu Kurmasheva, Paul Whelan. Free. Amazing. #IStandWithEvan
What a momentous day for these courageous individuals and their loved ones. I am so grateful to everyone who participated in such a complex and delicate process to secure their freedom. No one should suffer such undemocratic regime abuses.
Paul Whelan, Evan Gershkovich, and Alsu Kurmasheva are on their way to the United States to reunite with their families. I’m grateful for all of those who worked to secure their freedom and for our allies and partners who made this deal possible.

The 16-year prison sentence against @WSJ journalist @evangershkovich is the antithesis of justice. A politically motivated and sham trial. Journalism is not a crime. Evan must be released immediately. #FreeEvanGershkovich
EU support to #Ukraine continues with full force. After 14 packages of sanctions, our efforts have weakened the Russian economy and prevented Putin from destroying not only Ukraine, but everything the EU stands for: democracy, freedom, choice. Our work continues. 💪
📣 The EU has adopted new economic and individual sanctions against Putin’s regime and those who perpetuate his war of aggression against Ukraine. These measures target the energy, finance, transport and trade sectors and make sanctions circumvention more difficult. More ⬇️
