Welcome to the Stop SIM allies twitter account! 💙 We can be reached by DM or at [email protected] ✊ We hope to eradicate criminalisation and punitive practice in mental health care. We owe a debt to the Stop SIM Coalition who started this work 🙏

Please read the below from @StopOxevision and consider signing. Very similar issues highlighted in terms of use of NHS 'Innovation' funding as with SIM ⬇️

I got some/many questions & would #AMHPrant into the void about the decision to prosecute & criminalise distress/mental illness/mental disorder… @StopSIMMH @stopSIMallies #StopSIM I am wondering about the ubiquitous S.136 & stuff & things…

I’ve added a column for patient and staff reports so if you have recently been on a ward/ work on a ward which does or doesn’t have oxevision / care protect you can add a comment to add these details to help build collective mad knowledge and resistance to oppressive surveillance

We've been concerned about Oxevision/Oxeheath for years but it continues to spread across mental health trusts. I want to share and make sure everyone has access to knowledge about where this technology is being used. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d…

Happy Monday to all our followers! Please follow @StopOxevision and stay tuned for more content about how this system is impacting on people using mental health services 🆘⬇️

Oxevision is a surveillance system that is breaching patients human rights to privacy and dignity on psychiatric wards

Stigma in particular is not a helpful word for this - reads like there are some outdated attitudes that just need to be shed (mostly by patients and their loved ones) and then everything will be OK. Practices like SIM tell us the issue is far bigger than that.

Let's stop talking about the stigma and discrimination towards anyone labelled with pd and its various euphemisms. Call it out for what it is - abuse. Zero Tolerance Stop tolerating abuse of patients. You have ALL witnessed it or perpetrated it.

We are really troubled by Oxevision and will be meeting this week to decide how to take this forward. Plenty of useful commentary on this thread to understand this and the likely impact on patients ⬇️

happy Friday to everyone who wants to eradicate discrimination and criminalisation in healthcare 💙🙏 we've had a quiet week! what's happened while we've been away?

so sorry to hear this Liv 💔- this type of practice is exactly why we formed our campaign group. you will know this, but you have the right to be protected from degrading treatment. custody suites should have tear proof clothing so you can be kept safe and clothed

It's dangerous to think about. Imagine if the public knew that those in the caring professions enacted hatred (to quote Tom Maine) on those in their care. What professional body would admit it? 🤔 #Bigspd23

Medact's Criminalising Distress project asks 1) how & why SIM was adopted so readily 2) how it impacted people 3) why there has been so little accountability & 4) what the alternatives are We're v happy with responses to our call for participants so far but please keep sharing!

Happy Wednesday to all our followers! 🌄 To keep you updated, we are currently drafting a response to NHSE's communication with us. This will be reviewed by people with lived experience then sent out. After that, we have a catch-up with @Medact later this week ✊💙
