Oxevision is a surveillance system that is breaching patients human rights to privacy and dignity on psychiatric wards
Stigma in particular is not a helpful word for this - reads like there are some outdated attitudes that just need to be shed (mostly by patients and their loved ones) and then everything will be OK. Practices like SIM tell us the issue is far bigger than that.
Let's stop talking about the stigma and discrimination towards anyone labelled with pd and its various euphemisms. Call it out for what it is - abuse. Zero Tolerance Stop tolerating abuse of patients. You have ALL witnessed it or perpetrated it.
We are really troubled by Oxevision and will be meeting this week to decide how to take this forward. Plenty of useful commentary on this thread to understand this and the likely impact on patients ⬇️

so sorry to hear this Liv 💔- this type of practice is exactly why we formed our campaign group. you will know this, but you have the right to be protected from degrading treatment. custody suites should have tear proof clothing so you can be kept safe and clothed

It's dangerous to think about. Imagine if the public knew that those in the caring professions enacted hatred (to quote Tom Maine) on those in their care. What professional body would admit it? 🤔 #Bigspd23
Medact's Criminalising Distress project asks 1) how & why SIM was adopted so readily 2) how it impacted people 3) why there has been so little accountability & 4) what the alternatives are We're v happy with responses to our call for participants so far but please keep sharing!
