Two formulas for mega-success: 1) Jordan way — strive to be the best, compete and win. Double down in the face of fierce competition. 2) Thiel way — seek to avoid competition, find a compounding advantage. Pivot if competition is too fierce. Being in the middle — not so good.

Repeat after me: you do not go farther by tearing others down. It just doesn't work like that. Build each other up. We get further together.

Update on @KnativeProject project governance. Community voice is being heard. This is at least a step in a better direction. "Trust is at the heart of open source." <- strongly agree! Thank you to all who have been urging and working on improving situation groups.google.com/forum/m/?utm_m…

While I grab my 🍿 and watch the soap opera that is istio, knative, and "service mesh" play out, the underlying reality is that @EnvoyProxy is taking over the world, and solving real problems for real users every day <- this is what keeps me going. cncf.io/blog/2019/10/0…

The thing I find most ironic about the C++ is dead narrative is that C++ IS one of the (several) reasons that Envoy has blown up. Google/Apple would not have touched Envoy if not C++, and their support was critical in early 2017, lending both expertise and resources. 1/
OH at a coffee shop in SF: “the reason our startup failed to gain any traction of community is because our core product is written in C++. Developers don’t *write* C++ anymore.” God, I so don’t want to be obnoxious, but I want to whisper “have you heard of Envoy” before I leave.
