Exactly one year later and with the same amount money. Today is the first day of my 12th year in the US. I stayed five years in @uarizona and 6 years in @michiganstateu. An experience totally beyond my imagination in 2009, and I am happy with it.

I flew to the US on 2008-08-08 with $2000 in my pocket to pursue my Ph.D. I remember the date because It was the opening day of the Beijing Olympic Games. Today marks my 12th year's stay in the States. An incredible journey for me.

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Dr. Ripla Arora (@aroralab), who has been awarded the @MarchofDimes Basil O’Connor Starter Scholar Research Award! This annual grant is awarded to young investigators who are just embarking on an independent research career. Read more: bit.ly/2BOCxyj

Congratulations! Though it is not very good to be excited at midnight, I am so so so happy and excited to hear this.

We are delighted with our 5th percentile score on the third attempt of our first R01 application for @BhattacharyaLab at @MSUIQ @michiganstateu! Thanks to great collaborators, and grad students Wenjie Qi and David Filipovic who helped with the preliminary data.

My 12 year old sent me an email asking permission to spend a no school day at a friend’s house. I wish I could post the whole thing but I’ll just share the introductory paragraph.

As #corornavirus continues to spread, we can pray, we can donate, but as a scientist, we can and we should do more. Proud of sending out our drug candidates for preclinical evaluation today. Fingers crossed!

I need to see this image everyday if my computer can open it. Another perspective to think the meaning of my life.

Our galactic home in this image. Would earth even be a single pixel if a similar image were taken from Alpha Centauri, our nearest star? Kinda reduces the problems of the day to inconsequential—always need proper perspective on life.
