I'll continue to die on the hill of "magic directives are bad API interfaces". They're not type-safe, they're not extensible, no native runtime control, they're just strings. ... I can't believe I'm saying this, but I would rather debate @ directives. Pls rewind history.
Functions win over directives when it comes to typesafety. With react's "use server", you need to **know** which types are allowed as input and output types. In TanStack Start you get TypeScript errors when input or output types are not serializable. A contrived example:
“So you made $160 MILLION in your NBA career?” “Yes, Dave” “And you are now facing a federal indictment for rigging a game to make $200k…” “That’s correct, Dave”
