March 16, 1999 - Apple Computer releases Mac OS X Server 1.0. Server 1.0 is the first operating system released by Apple to be based off NeXT. It did not include the Aqua user interface. UI was a mix of NeXTSTEP Workspace with Mac OS 8. Mac OS X 10.0 was released later in 2001.
